Although the origins of the City's livery companies stretch as far back as 1066, livery companies play a vital modern role in commerce and trade and are involved in extensive charitable activities within the City and throughout the UK. LiveryLive Online offers a glimpse of the variety of their work and we hope it will lead you to discover more.

Guild of Air Pilots' banquet

February 2009 marks the 70th anniversary of an aviation milestone – when Alex Henshaw flew from London to Cape Town and back with no navigation aids except a compass.

To celebrate this, the Guild of Air Pilots is holding the Alex Henshaw Commemorative Banquet, with guests of honour Richard Noble OBE (former world land speed record holder) and Andy Green OBE (current world land speed record holder) in attendance.

The banquet will be held in the Milestones of Flight Gallery at the RAF Museum in Hendon and will raise funds for Youth in Aviation. The banquet is open to all who would like to attend.

For an application form and to find out more about the Guild of Air Pilots.
