Lighting

There are more than 14,000 lighting points within the City. These include street lights, traffic signs, bollards and all illuminated street furniture. Services are also provided for public car parks, conveniences, and the river bridges. In addition, many of the City’s famous public buildings and open spaces are floodlit.

Working in partnership with our contractor, FM Conway, and using a computerised street lighting database system, each lighting point is visually inspected once a week for correct operation. Faults are either repaired immediately, or electronically passed to the day crews for attention. The average time taken to repair a fault, within the City’s scope, is less than three days.
