Search the Catalogue
You can now look through our collections catalogue
online. This catalogue is also available at LMA online, or as a
paper list.
You can use this facility to plan which documents you want to
see when you visit us in person. You can search the catalogue
without registering with us, simply click the guest button.
You can also register for our
History
Card, which will enable you to use more of our services when
you visit LMA and allow you to reserve documents in advance.
Digitised Family History Records Online
London Metropolitan Archives and Guildhall Library Manuscripts
Section are working in partnership with Ancestry™ to digitise
genealogical sources. 11 million parish register entries are
already available along with poor law sources including workhouse
records and more material will be launched in 2010. To find out

Civil Registration Indexes
The full range of the General Register Office indexes for
England and Wales are now available on microfiche at LMA. For more

About LMA
- Archives are original documents produced by official bodies,
societies and individuals that are no longer in current use. The
council may provide a way for local residents and business to view
their archives, often in a local library.

Collections information

Records and archives - withdrawals
- A depositor may permanently withdraw their records at any time,
provided notice is given to the Record Office. During this period
of notice, the Council reserves the right to copy the records and
to make these copies available for private research

Visitor information
- Records will be made available to the public for research
during the advertised opening hours of the record office and in
accordance with the search room rules.
