The Guidelines were approved in June 2007 after consultation. The Guidelines are a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) of the City's Local Plan.

Conservation Areas in the City of London: A General Introduction to their Character

This book forms the introduction and background to the character of the City’s conservation areas. It analyses the nature of the character of these areas and identifies the factors central to the qualities and identity of the environment of the City of London. The General Introduction is complemented by a series of volumes summarising the individual character of each area.
