Information sharing is important for effective integrated
working and multi-agency working across the children’s workforce.
Early intervention and prevention aims to prevent challenges
children and young people face from escalating, and therefore
improving the possibility of reaching positive outcomes. Successful
information sharing between services is vital to the success of
those most at risk of poor outcomes. The CAF is a process that can
be used to identify those with additional needs and at risk of not
achieving in the five Every Child Matters targets.
Information sharing must be in accordance with the general
principles of the Data Protection Act 1989 and is addressed in the
HM Government Guidance, Information Sharing Guidance for
Practitioners and Managers (2008) can be used for decisions on
whether to share information, and how to share information.
