Domestic violence

Domestic violence makes up nearly a quarter of all violent crime in the UK.  And abuse in the home is not restricted to physical violence.  It can also be sexual, psychological or emotional abuse. Financial abuse and social isolation are also common features.

We can provide support to those suffering domestic violence by offering information about and referring people to specialist domestic violence services such as:

  • refuges
  • talking to carers regarding child protection concerns
  • allocating a social worker to visit regularly and offer support
  • advice and assistance with child care
  • providing supporting statements in respect of domestic violence incidents, eg housing departments
